Project Management

Susan K. Flinn provides staffing for short- and long-term projects. These services are particularly useful for organizations that have a specific activity to complete, but do not want to bring a staff person in-house for reasons such as cost or the strain on the company infrastructure.
Projects include:
- Assists the American Chemical Society (ACS) to process grant funding for domestic and international student chapters.
- Assisting with the American Academy of Pediatrics’ project to identify specific policy recommendations for the 45th President, designed to promote the health of children, their families, and their communities.
- Overseeing development activities for clients including Metro TeenAIDS, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), Mission: Launch, the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute, and Capitol Hill Village. Activities include prospecting potential foundations; developing and editing proposals and funding reports; and coordinating donor appeals.
- Researching state workers’ compensation reimbursement policies and rates in the ambulatory surgical care setting, for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
- Compiling comprehensive resources for seniors and caregivers in the Metropolitan region, for Iona Senior Services.

Ms. Flinn provides program oversight services for a variety of non-profit clients who need help in multiple areas. Imagine something between a Girl Friday and an eminence gris, and you’re on the right track. It’s hard to characterize these activities, but a few examples are provided below:
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
The AAP is a professional membership organization of 64,000 primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical sub-specialists and pediatric surgical specialists who are dedicated to the health, safety, and well being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
During the 2016 election cycle, Susan K. Flinn co-led an AAP project to draft a document outlining a pediatric-focused vision and policy recommendations for the 45th President, in order to facilitate and guide Federal efforts to promote the health of children, their families, and their communities. The project involved interviewing pediatric thought leaders; drafting the document’s overall policy framework; editing department- and agency-specific transition plans; and assisting with the production of the document, the corresponding website, and the launch event. The Blueprint for America’s Children: How the Next President Can Build A Foundation for a Healthy Future is available here. Read it and weep over what could have been.
Nimitt Consulting, Inc.

Since 2020, Susan has served as the firm’s de facto Chief of Staff and official cat herder. She supports Nimitt’s six-person team by providing a range of services, including project coordination, scheduling assistance, quality assurance, writing, editing, and meeting coordination. This support enables team members to focus on Nimitt’s client’s needs, solve complex reimbursement questions, and ensure access to life-saving therapies.
National Center for Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety
The National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety is jointly administered by Education Development Center (EDC) and Georgetown University’s Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD). The Center is funded by the federal Office of Head Start (OHS) to support Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Ms. Flinn provides meeting management and logistical support for several Center meetings, including the 2021 and 2022 Health and Mental Health Leaders’ Institute (HMHLI), and the 2022 I’m Moving I’m Learning meeting. In 2021, COVID-19 forced the HMHLI to transition from an in-person event with 300 attendees to a virtual event with more than 2,500 participants. Ms. Flinn coordinated the transition, including helping to select, populate, and manage the online meeting platform; develop the agenda; identify and communicate with workshop and plenary speakers; train staff and speakers to use the meeting platform; and staff the three-day event.
